I once again have been reading about the banning of Halloween. I read all these opinions about how it is Satan's day, etc. I say that this is the most ridiculous thing I have ever read. If adults or various religious groups choose to call this simple, innocent, holiday some kind of celebration of Satan then it is in their own narrow minds that it exists.
Halloween is such a fun-loving time. Children wearing spooky costumes is as American as can be and just because a little girl dresses as a witch or a little boy dresses as a zombie doesn't mean they are, in fact, a true witch or a true zombie. In many areas, we can no longer even call the holiday Halloween, but Harvest Fest or Harvest Day or something similar. I still call it Halloween. I always will.
When my children were small, they donned their costumes and now my grandchildren dress up each Halloween night as witches, ghosts, ghouls, etc., and go trick-or-treating and I am glad that they do. I hope I never see the end of this innocent holiday. Isn't it time to stop picking on Halloween?
