Your Oct. 23 editorial, "It's time for policies that will grow middle class" is wrong.
America's big government liberals have spent the last 100 years trying to make us all equal. The results are striking -- millions of jobs and trillions of dollars taxed, regulated, and legislated out of the country. We are now more equally poor, equally uneducated, and equally miserable.
The rich will always be with us, as will the poor. The rich can protect their wealth from big government, the rest of us cannot. You and I are poorer now because the government is bigger (and richer) than it's ever been. The money that hasn't been taken directly from you is being taken from your employer, and anyone who tries to make a product to sell. We all pay for this.
If only we could convince our (government) employees to start repealing laws and regulations instead of making new ones, we might begin the long road to a smaller, weaker government and a stronger greater citizenry.
I'm not holding my breath.
