A Madera man was sentenced to nine years in state prison Thursday after fatally punching a man in the face last July, the Madera County District Attorney's Office said.
Johnathan Warren, 41, was convicted for the death of Paul Carranza, 57, of Madera following a fight at Courthouse Park in Madera between Warren and Theodore Hernandez, 40.
After the fight, Warren followed Carranza to a liquor store and punched Carranza in the face, causing him to fall and hit his head on the ground. Carranza was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where he died as a result of his head injuries.
