The Friends of Camp El-O-Win are raising money to "Build the Bridge" across Dinkey Creek. The original bridge was badly damaged during a 2002 winter storm and soon removed. The bridge connected the sleeping units on the north side of the creek with the main camp. For now, the Friends run weekend programs for a smaller number of girls. Without the bridge there can be no full overnight camp program for even more girls.
We need to raise $80,000 more by December to solicit bids in January for the construction of the prefabricated bridge. It will take the manufacturer six months to build and deliver it. The bridge could be installed this summer!
Anyone who went to Camp El-O-Win, or who values the experiences we offer the girls of our Valley and who would like to help us reach our goal to rebuild the bridge can send contributions to FOCEOW Bridge Fund, P.O. Box 593, Clovis CA 93613-0593. Check out our webpage at www.campelowin.org.
Rebuilding this bridge will help us make Camp El-O-Win a safe place where Central Valley girls discover their abilities, values and talents in a beautiful mountain setting near Shaver Lake.
