Houston School in Visalia was put on lockdown Wednesday because of a gang-related shooting in the area, Visalia police said.
About 3:30 p.m., police received a call about a shooting in the 1100 block of North Conyer Street.
Police found a victim who had been shot but was conscious. He was taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center for treatment.
More calls came in that two people were hopping fences and heading east, police said.
Several minutes later, police spotted them about eight blocks away at Giddings Avenue and Vine Street, but they did not have a weapon, Sgt. Ozzie Dominguez said. They were detained and the case is under investigation, he said.
Houston School was place on lockdown because of after-school programs, he said. The lockdown was called off after the suspects were detained.
