West Goshen is getting a new drinking water system, thanks to a $3.25 million state grant, Self-Help Enterprises said Tuesday.
The California Department of Public Health grant will let the community of 80 homes stop using nitrate-laden water and hook up to California Water Service in Goshen a mile and a half away, said Jessi Snyder, community development specialist at Self-Help in Visalia.
West Goshen has been struggling with a failing water system for a year. In January, residents were told not to drink the water due to contamination by non-fecal coliform bacteria.
