Clovis bomb squad removes homemade explosives from alley

The Fresno BeeOctober 21, 2013

The Clovis Police Department's bomb squad removed a paper sack with four homemade explosives from an alley behind a home Monday afternoon.

A resident of the home said he found the sack in an alley near Fourth Street and Oxford Avenue behind his house. When officers arrived with the bomb robot, they blocked off Fourth Street between Cherry Lane and Oxford Avenue.

The bomb robot put the objects -- four homemade explosives -- into a bucket of water to deactivate them. The robot moved the bucket to a disposal container, which the bomb squad took to an area outside of Clovis to neutralize the devices.

There were no injuries.
