A Sunnyside High School graduate from Fresno was selected Monday as a White House intern for fall 2013.
Molly Lao, who graduated magna cum laude from Brown University in May 2013, will work in one of several White House departments during the internship.
The mission of the program is to make the White House accessible to future leaders around the nation and to prepare those devoted to public service for future leadership opportunities.
Lao became the first Fresno County resident in 2007 to win the Boys & Girls Club California Youth of the Year contest and by the age of 17 she had been awarded more than a dozen scholarships totaling more than $45,000.
