West African Vocational Schools will host a banquet at Moravia Wines in Fresno Friday to raise money for clean drinking water in Guinea-Bissau in West Africa.
The money raised at Fridays event will help build a water tower to provide clean, running water for students who attend the Fresno-based nonprofit's school in Guinea-Bissau. The staff now draws water with a bucket from a rudimentary well. West African Vocational Schools hopes to raise $5,000 at the event.
The event will feature wine tasting, West African food, music by Fresno violinist Patrick Contreras, a live auction and a presentation on the work being done in Guinea Bissau. Social hour begins at 6 p.m., and dinner will be served at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $40 per person or $75 for a couple. Tickets can be purchased at www.wavschools.org/2013banquet.
