Two officers are on paid administrative leave in the wake of an officer-involved shooting that left one man dead, Visalia police Sgt. Amy Watkins said Monday.
The incident marks the fifth officer-involved shooting in Visalia this year. Being placed on leave is department policy, Watkins said.
About 8:45 p.m. Friday, two officers went to a home in west Visalia for a family disturbance call and encountered a man with knives who threatened officers, police said.
The man, James Allen, 25, was shot outside the home and died at Kaweah Delta Medical Center, police said.
The Tulare County Sheriff's Department is investigating the shooting at the request of Visalia police. Police aren't commenting during the investigation, Watkins said.
