Fresno police arrested 10 people on suspicion of driving under the influence at a DUI checkpoint in central Fresno late Saturday night.
The checkpoint was held in the westbound lanes of Shields Avenue, east of West Avenue. Officers also impounded 21 vehicles because their drivers did not have a valid driver's license or because they were arrested for driving under the influence.
Meanwhile, in Visalia a warrant sweep operation resulted in 10 arrests on suspicion of driving while under the influence in Visalia on Sunday.
The sweep's intent was to arrest suspects with outstanding felony and misdemeanor traffic warrants involving, or related to, driving under the influence, police said. Officers attempted to serve 52 warrants.
