Fresno State's Marissa Brand and Korrin Wild each recorded double-digit kills and digs, leading the Bulldogs to a 25-21, 22-25, 25-18, 25-18 win over Air Force in a Mountain West Conference volleyball match Saturday at the Save Mart Center.
Brand led the way with 20 kills and Wild had 16 as the Bulldogs won their fifth straight to move to 12-8 overall and 6-2 in the league.
They each had 14 digs.
Christina Lee had 18 digs and 40 assists. Katie Pearson served a solid game for the Bulldogs, nailing a career-high four of the team's nine aces.
Maci Murdock kept the Falcons at bay, defensively, leading the team with five blocks.
Air Force is 4-15 overall and 1-5 in the conference.
Women's doubles team advances to round of 16 at ITA regional
Fresno State's Anne Susdorf and Claire Yang beat Sacramento State's Deimante Bulatovaite and Alina Soltanici 8-4 to advance to today's doubles round of 16 at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northwest Regional at Stanford.
The Bulldogs' Sofya Malysheva and Rana Sherif Ahmed lost in the round of 32.
Singles players Anneka Watts, Sherif Ahmed and Sophie Watts also all lost after reaching the round of 32.
Men's tennis: Fresno State's McNeil alive in singles, doubles
Fresno State's Sam MacNeil upset Cal's Gregory Bayane 6-3, 6-2, to advance to Sunday's singles round of 16 at the men's ITA Regional in Moraga.
John Darmstaedter lost to Robin Cambier of Oregon, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
In doubles, Darmstaedter and MacNeil beat Cal's Andre Goransson and Mads Engsted, 8-7 (8) in a tiebreaker to reach the round of 16.
'Dogs runner races to another mark
Annemarie Schwanz broke a school record for the second straight race — this time in a 6K — and finished seventh in a field of 204 runners at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational cross country meet.
Schwanz, a sophomore from Neuruppin, Germany, finished in 20:38.5 to break the old Bulldogs standard at the distance by 20 seconds. She set the 5K record two weeks ago and has placed in the top 10 at all four meets this season.
Grace Graham of women's team champion Loyola Marymount won in 20:18.1. Loyola Marymount also won the men's title.
Fresno State's teams each finished eighth. The top Bulldogs men's runner was Kevin Poythress (40th, 24:39.2) in an 8K won by San Francisco's Eric Causey in 23:39.6.
