Fresno Pacific women run to Santa Clara title
Fresno Pacific's Brandon Croft finished in 19th in 25:58.3 and freshman Cristal Rivera 24th in 23:22.6 in the men's and women's open divisions at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational.
The Sunbirds ran the best among the 18 non-NCAA Division I teams, with the women finishing in first, edging Cal State East Bay by one point, while the men placed third.
Rams capture three duals
The Fresno City College wrestling team took three of four matches at the NorCal Duals in Santa Rosa, including two shutouts.
The Rams blanked Lassen 53-0 and Sierra 48-0. Fresno City beat Skyline 40-9 before falling 22-21 to Sacramento City.
Arnulfo Olea won two matches at 125 pounds. At 285, Narcisco Juarez won four matches.
Preps: Buchanan rolls to girls water polo title
Mackenzie Rhodes scored four goals as Buchanan High downed Carlmont-Belmont 12-3 for the title of the Monta Vista girls water polo tournament.
The Bears reached the final by defeating Homestead-Cupertino 11-1 earlier Saturday and Sequoia-Redwood City 17-2 on Friday.
Rhodes had six goals in three games.
Eduardo Herrera finished in an event-best 15:31.2 as Madera South's boys won the large schools title Friday at the Rough Rider Invitational cross country meet at Woodward Park.
Buchanan — behind the runner-up finish of Miranda Kennedy (18:42.6) — won in girls large school.
