A girl jumps from a tower because she can no longer take being bullied (story Oct. 16). Some "grown-ups" say something on the order of: They hate to put a damper on it and though it was tragic they can remember when they were growing up (back in the day) there was bullying. It was a part of the growing up process; learning to take care of one's self; like one size fits all; like young people bullying a senior on a school bus is just part of that growing up process, and trashing a man's house is part of that growing up process.
And, young people taking weapons to school for protection against bullying is part of that growing up process, and bars on schools and guards are all part of that growing up process. Educating young people is important, but perhaps "the re-education" of some "grown-ups" is more important.
