A Fresno family won the 2,216-square-foot home valued at $270,000 that was the grand prize Saturday in the Granville Home of Hope drawing.
Hue Xiong and his family were among nearly 150 people at the drawing when his name was selected from 2,730 tickets, event and marketing coordinator Dayshell Weatherby said. More than 20 secondary prizes were awarded to other winners.
The event raised $273,000 this year. The proceeds will benefit local nonprofit organizations, including the Community Food Bank and Poverello House. In eight years, the Home of Hope drawing has raised over $2.5 million.
Weatherby said the unclaimed secondary prizes will be posted on the Home of Hope website today at fblinks.com/hope.
Though Xiong and his wife could choose a $100,000 cash prize, Weatherby said they likely will opt for the house. The Xiongs have two young children.
Their new home is in the Sunnyside Grove community near Fowler and Church avenues. The three-bedroom, 21/2-bath home includes a two-car garage, stainless steel appliances and a 20-year pre-paid contract with Solar City.
