A 36-year-old man was killed early Saturday morning after a verbal dispute at a party east of Visalia escalated to a physical fight, the Tulare County Sheriff's Department said.
The two men involved in the dispute were at a party around 5 a.m. near Road 216 and Avenue 152. During the fight, the victim sustained severe head injuries, the sheriff's department said.
The victim was taken to Sierra View District Hospital in Porterville, where he died. An autopsy by the coroner's office will determine the cause of death. His name was not released pending notification to his family.
Jason Vandersluis, 29, later turned himself in to investigators at the Porterville Sheriff's substation. He was booked at the Tulare County Main Jail on suspicion of assault and battery.
