Fresno County officials held a formal signing ceremony Thursday morning for a fast-track incentive program intended to bring more businesses to the county.
The signing ceremony took place in southeast Fresno, where Brandt Monterey, a farm chemical and fertilizer company, proposes to expand, according to a county news release. The county said the Brandt Monterey is getting assistance through the county program.
Fresno County officials agreed last month to create an assistance team that includes staff from the county's Economic Development Corporation and county departments responsible for approving business applications.
The county's program grew out of an effort by a group calling itself Creating Prosperity, made up of business and community leaders that have argued local government needs to be more supportive of business retention and development.
Earlier this summer, the Fresno City Council also agreed to work with the group, despite concerns that the group's goals could foster more sprawl.
