Five people were displaced and a pregnant woman was taken to the hospital Thursday afternoon after a house caught fire west of Highway 99 in Fresno, the Fresno Fire Department said.
When crews arrived at the house near Herndon Avenue and Parkway Drive about 4:30 p.m. they reported heavy fire coming from the garage, spokesman Koby Johns said.
The fire started because of an active burn barrel placed too close to the open garage, Johns said. The blaze extended through the attic and into the home causing about $30,000 in damage.
No other information was immediately available.
