I would like to thank the good people. They don't get enough recognition. I want to share two experiences I had. The first was a bicycle crash. I went over my handlebars and split my head, I ended up with 12 stitches. The nicest woman stopped, convinced me that I should go to the hospital and proceeded to load my dirty, sweaty, bloody self into her BMW. She helped me get situated at the hospital and then disappeared. I never got the chance to properly thank her. I think of her often when I see someone in need of help.
More recently, my car quit on me and I needed to push it more than 100 yards to get it out of the road. As I was struggling with it, my load was lightened by a good Samaritan. He helped me get it out of the road and offered help or a ride if I needed it.
What examples of good citizenship! I am encouraged by these thoughtful gestures and have been inspired to follow in their footsteps. What strength there can be when we look past differences, see people for who they are and lift each other.
