A man struck and killed by a train in Hanford early Tuesday apparently committed suicide, police said.
Richard Wellman, 52, was hit by the train just after midnight on Seventh Street, near the city's Amtrak station.
Hanford police said the train conductor blew the train's horn after he saw Wellman lying on the side of the tracks. The conductor said Wellman looked up at the train but did not move. The conductor was unable to stop the train in time.
