A two-alarm fire damaged an apartment complex Monday night in east-central Fresno, the Fresno Fire Department said.
When crews arrived at the Sunset Sand Apartments near McKinley and Maple avenues about 5:30 p.m. they found an upstairs apartment engulfed in flames, battalion chief Charles Tobias said. The fire spread into the attic and destroyed the roof of the apartment, Tobias said.
Firefighters contained the blaze to one apartment but occupants of three other units were displaced due to the damage. Residents of four other units may also be displaced, Tobias said.
One woman suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center.
The cause of the fire and estimated damage remain unknown.
