A 4-year-old Hanford boy was thrown from a car in an accident caused by a drunken driver, Hanford police said Monday.
About 2:10 p.m. Friday, police went to Scott and Phillips streets and found a 4-year-old boy lying in the front yard of a home. A helicopter took him to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno for treatment.
His mother had been driving a north on Phillips when the driver of a car going west on Scott Street ran a stop sign and hit her car, police said. The man who ran the stop sign was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and causing injury while driving intoxicated.
The boy's child safety seat was not properly fastened, police said.
