A 16-year-old boy is in the hospital after being hit by a van as he tried to cross a street Monday morning, Visalia police said.
About 5:40 a.m., the boy was tying to cross Houston Avenue at Ben Maddox Way when a maroon Dodge Caravan, driven by a 50-year-old man, struck the pedestrian, police said.
The boy was walking north and was at the southwest corner of the intersection, police said.
An ambulance took him to Kaweah Delta Medical Center for treatment of leg and head injuries.
The driver was unhurt and alcohol is not suspected in the incident, police said. The accident is under investigation.
