Jay Preuss, who won 143 games, four league championships and a Central Section title in eight years at Kerman High, has resigned as baseball coach.
Preuss declined comment Friday evening because of an ongoing "technicality" at the school.
His 143-85-3 record included 20-win seasons in the past four behind pitcher Carlos Salazar, who was selected in the third round by the Atlanta Braves in June's Major League Draft.
Kerman defeated Bakersfield Christian 2-0 for the 2012 Division IV title. The Lions in 2011 lost to Bakersfield Christian in the semifinals and in 2010 lost to Washington in the championship.
This past springs, the Lions lost in the section semifinals to Selma.
Kerman won the past four North Sequoia League championships, including the past three outright.
