Fresno restaurateur David Fansler was cited early Thursday for driving under the influence in north Fresno.
The California Highway Patrol stopped him near Palm and Alluvial avenues, Fansler said, after the officer saw a cellular phone in his hand while he was driving.
He was taken to Fresno County Jail on one count of DUI. He was cited and released.
Fansler, 59, is the owner of Pismo's Coastal Grill and Yosemite Ranch restaurants, and founded Tahoe Joe's. He is in the process of opening a new restaurant, Westwoods BBQ and Spice Co., in the former Claim Jumper space.
