A man and woman were seriously injured early Friday when their motorcycle went out of control during a chase with Fresno police.
Police were attempting to stop the driver just after midnight Friday for traffic violations near the intersection of Herndon and Cedar avenues when he drove away.
Police discontinued the pursuit but a helicopter was used to monitor Jonathan Gilkey as he drove north on Peach Avenue. He crashed when he tried to brake at a T-intersection at Shepherd Avenue.
Gilkey, 31, and his passenger, Coti Randrup, 22, were conscious and breathing when they were taken to Community Regional Medical Center, police said.
Police arrested Gilkey for suspicion of felony evading causing bodily injury, possession of narcotic paraphernalia, speeding and driving on a suspended license. Randrup was arrested on suspicion of possession of burglary tools and for possession of narcotic paraphernalia.
