A vehicle crashed into a roadside pole west of Fresno on Thursday morning.
The people inside were not injured, said officer Marc McWilliams, a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP initially reported that the vehicle caught fire; Koby Johns, spokesman for the Fresno Fire Department, said the was no fire, but the vehicle's accelerator stuck causing several things to heat up and generate a lot of smoke.
The single-vehicle crash happened about 8:45 a.m. at West Shields Avenue and North Polk Avenue, west of Highway 99. McWilliams said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
