Visitors to the Big Fresno Fair should prepare for a sharp drop in temperature Wednesday and a chance of showers throughout the day, said Jim Dudley, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Hanford.
Dudley said there is a 40% chance of rain and the temperature will drop from the Monday high of 88 degrees to 70 degrees by Wednesday. For one day, he said, the weather will be noticeably different than the rest of the week.
"A nearly 20-degree drop, clouds and possible rain makes for a different kind of day," Dudley said.
The rain showers are forecast to be off and on Wednesday, Dudley said, with a slight chance for a thunderstorm in the afternoon.
Early October is usually dry weather until the rain season starts later in the month, but Dudley said that rain any time is welcome.
"Any rain is different than what we've had , which is almost no rain," he said.
By Thursday, he said the weather system is forecast to pass through the area and mostly sunny days are expected to raise the daytime highs back to 80 degrees by the weekend.
