I don't understand why some people are getting nervous about the shutdown. It's a very good thing for the parks to renew the meadows, bring the wildlife back to their region, clear the air from the toxic car fumes and generally regain some of their health.
As far as the 800,000 or so government employees on unpaid leave? Well, no one cried for the millions of Americans who lost their jobs, homes and savings during the Great Recession while the government employees continued to work, pay their bills, retain their health insurance and managed to keep their homes and feed their families.
As far as Head Start goes, well, the children are only 4 years old and they'll bounce back. I think the shutdown is stupid, and to quote Forrest Gump's mother: "Stupid is as stupid does."
