A 28-year-old man was stabbed multiple times in the torso and face by a man Sunday night while walking with his girlfriend and her teenage son in northeast Fresno.
The three people were walking on Cedar Avenue, north of Alluvial Avenue, at about 9 p.m. when an 18-year-old man allegedly stabbed the victim for unknown reasons, Fresno police Lt. Jose Garza said.
After the stabbing, the suspect ran away and flagged a car down, asking the driver to drop him off at his nearby home.
After the driver dropped the suspect off at his home, he noticed the police cars at the intersection and asked what had happened. The officers told the driver about the stabbing, and the driver realized he had unknowingly given the stabbing suspect a ride home.
The driver gave the location of the suspect’s home to officers, who quickly arrested the suspect, Garza said.
The suspect was positively identified by witnesses and was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. The victim was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries, Garza said.
