Wells Fargo and Fresno Chaffee Zoo will launch the zoo's newest fundraising campaign "Change for Cheetahs" - to raise money for the zoo's newest exhibit, African Adventures - Wednesday during the third anniversary of Wells Fargo Wednesdays.
Children, ages 2- to 11-years of age, attending with their families receive free admission into Fresno Chaffee Zoo on the first Wednesday of every month, zoo spokeswoman Terri Mejorado said.
The fundraiser includes a friendly competition in which classrooms throughout the Valley fill paw-shaped "piggy" banks. Elementary, middle and high school classrooms raising the most money at the end of the campaign will win an all-expenses paid trip to the zoo, complete with lunch and a behind-the-scenes tour.
Other people interested in donating can pick up paw-shaped banks at the Fresno Chaffee Zoo.
The African Adventures exhibit will be the zoo's largest undertaking to date, with a state-of-the-art home for lions, elephants, white rhinos, cheetahs, a new giraffe feeding station with 360 degree views and a new dine-in restaurant, Mejorado said.
