Fair food is like no other. It's fried, filling and flavorful.
And this year, The Big Fresno Fair promises to deliver plenty of gut-busting food to satisfy anyone's tastes.
The fair, which opens today and runs through Oct. 14 at the fairgrounds on Chance Avenue, will feature many longtime favorites, including jumbo corn dogs, cinnamon rolls, tacos, deep-fried grilled cheese sandwiches and deep-fried Oreos and Twinkies.
The fair also has some new offerings, including a crepes vendor. The crepes come with a variety of fillings including, fried bananas, Nutella, strawberries and ham and swiss cheese.
And if you are a fan of waffles, then you may want to visit the Planet Popcorn Waffle stand. The vendor will stuff a waffle with your choice of pulled pork, vegetables or breakfast items.
Also new will be chicken wings from Pardini's Fair Ventures, fried frog legs from Jeannies Artichokes and a lobster corn dog and shark bites from Five Star Enterprises.
And, of course, there are some healthier options. Fresh fruit cups will be available in the Wells Fargo Agriculture Building. Greek salads and gyros are available along with beef and chicken sticks, teriyaki chicken bowls and gelato.
