The Kings County Breastfeeding Coalition will be sponsoring a conference, "All Aboard! To Support Breastfeeding" at West Hills College Lemoore on Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Breastfeeding rates are rising across the nation, but Kings County is among the lowest to breastfeed. The county ranks 47 out of 50 for percent of exclusive breastfeeding and any breastfeeding.
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that babies be exclusively breastfed for about the first 6 months of life. Babies should continue to breastfeed for a year and for as long as is mutually desired by the mother and baby.
