Update: The motorcyclist killed Sunday on Auberry Road north of Copper Avenue was identified by the Fresno County Coroner"s Office as Paul Webb, 31, of Hanford.
The crash happened about 2:25 p.m. as Webb, who was northbound, collided with a car south of the Fresno Rifle and Pistol Club.
Webb's passenger sustained major injuries.
Sunday: A motorcycle driver was killed and his passenger severely hurt in a head-on collision with a car Sunday afternoon on Auberry Road, north of Clovis, the California Highway Patrol said.
The accident happened around 2:25 p.m. south of the Fresno Rifle and Pistol Club when the 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle heading north on Auberry Road crossed the double yellow lines on a curve, Sgt. Gil Peirsol said.
The motorcycle crashed head-on into a 2001 Subaru Legacy, throwing the two riders off the bike and injuring two occupants in the car.
The driver of the motorcycle, a 31-year-old Hanford man, died at the scene. His passenger, 27-year-old Amber Trimble, sustained major injuries and was flown by helicopter to Community Regional Medical Center.
The driver of the Subaru was taken by ambulance to Clovis Community Hospital with moderate injuries and the Subaru passenger was treated at the scene, Peirsol said.
After the initial accident, two people on another motorcycle suffered scrapes and burns when the driver laid down the bike to avoid crashing into the wreckage, Peirsol said. The pair was taken to Community Regional Medical Center.
