Local political and community leaders will gather Friday for this year's Children's Summit at the Clovis Veterans Memorial Building to discuss how to improve outcomes for children who face large-scale problems of poverty and crime across Fresno County.
Clovis Mayor Lynne Ashbeck and Fresno County Board of Supervisors Chairman Henry Perea are among the local leaders who are expected at the summit, which runs from 8 a.m. to noon.
More than 350 people from all sectors and communities will work together to form a "collective impact" and get behind a single priority, summit spokeswoman Linda Gleason said.
The summit is a partnership between the Children's Movement and the Interagency Council for Children and Families. The event is sold out, but a wait list and more information is available at www.alignedaction.org.
