Three big rigs collided early Tuesday in Interstate 5 along the Grapevine near Gorman, forcing a full closure of the northbound lanes of the main route between the central San Joaquin Valley and Los Angeles.
Two of the three lanes were reopened by 9:30 a.m. The California Highway Patrol gave no estimation for when the third lane will reopen.
The collision of the three trucks was first reported by the CHP at 1:30 a.m. One big rig jackknifed, blocking two lanes, the CHP said. For several hours, vehicles were diverted at State Route 138 and then then back onto I-5 at Gorman Post Road.
