Update: A woman on the Ashlan Avenue overpass over northbound Highway 41 was injured when she reportedly jumped to the freeway about 4:15 p.m., Fresno police said.
She was taken by ambulance to Community Regional Medical Center.
Fresno police Lt. Joe Gomez said the woman hit the ground feet first before hitting her head on the pavement. He said she was conscious when she left the scene.
Traffic is moving again on northbound Highway 41.
The California Highway Patrol has closed northbound Highway 41 at Ashlan Avenue and diverted motorists onto Ashlan Avenue because of a woman threatening to jump to the freeway.
The woman was reported on the overpass about 3:50 p.m.
The Fresno Fire Department requested that traffic get stopped on the freeway to keep the woman from being hit by oncoming vehicles if she fell or jumped.
