A missing 8-year-old boy was found safe in Coalinga early Friday, hours after he had been reported missing.
Coalinga police responded to the missing child report about 10:15 p.m. Thursday on the 300 block of South Fifth Street.
The child's sister said her brother disappeared earlier in the day at the Coalinga-Huron District Library, and that family and friends hadn't been able to find him, said Sgt. Manny Boulos with the Coalinga Police Department.
Law enforcement officers from several agencies searched parks, schools and the route the child frequently took home from the library. Others combed homes around the library, and Coalinga detectives interviewed family members, neighbors and others.
Through the interviews, the child was found safe and in “good spirits” at a home in the 500 block of East Polk Street and returned to his parents, Boulos said.
The CHP, Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, Coalinga Fire Department and all available off-duty members of the Coalinga Police Department were called in to assist with the search for the missing juvenile, Boulos said.
