Arte Americas is holding a fundraiser Saturday to pay for repairs at the downtown exhibit center after vandals stole brass and copper piping from the rear of the building.
The two pipes removed at the rear of the building will cost about $3,500 to replace plus caging for the new piping, said Frank Delgado, Arte Americas director.
The vandalism disrupted water flow to the building and an air conditioning unit, he said.
Originally, the Saturday event was planned to raise money for a new stage. Fundraising that started for the stage was used to pay for new piping and any money raised beyond what's needed for the piping will be dedicated to the stage project, Delgado said.
The "Pipe Dream: Fundraiser and Dance Party" features vocalist/percussionist Marivel Luna and the Revolution Band.
The event starts at 7 p.m. with a show from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. at 1630 Van Ness in Fresno. Admission is $10 and children under 10 are free. Tickets are sold at the door. For more information go to arteamericas.org.
