A two-alarm fire destroyed a pizza restaurant in Farmersville on Monday. Two neighboring businesses, a doctor's office and a toy store, suffered major damage.
The fire was reported about 11 a.m. when employees arriving for work opened the door and smelled and saw smoke, Tulare County Fire Department battalion chief Jeff Newton said.
Black smoke was billowing when the first fire crew arrived, he said.
Engines and trucks from Farmersville, Tulare County, Visalia and Cal Fire fought the blaze, which took an hour and a half to put out, he said.
No injuries were reported.
The restaurant, Tony's Pizza, is one of two such restaurants. The other is in Lindsay. Damage is estimated at $500,000.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
