A 22-year-old Lemoore man who was walking on a state highway in the middle of the night was killed early Sunday when he was hit by a car, the California Highway Patrol said.
The man, whose name was not released, was walking west on Highway 198 east of 14th Avenue in Armona. For unknown reasons, about 2:55 a.m. he walked into the path of a 1999 Chevrolet being driven by a 42-year-old Hanford man, the CHP said.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno.
The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, suffered major injuries and was taken to Community Regional. An 11-year-old boy in the car suffered minor injuries.
