An apartment fire in east-central Fresno around 2 p.m. Saturday was contained within about 20 minutes by 32 firefighters, said John Creasy, a spokesman for the Fresno Fire Department.
Creasy said people living in five units were displaced due to the fire, but the American Red Cross was not needed to help them find shelter.
The total damage to the apartment complex at 1285 N. Recreation Avenue was not immediately available. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Creasy said.
The first of eight engines arrived at the fire within three minutes of being dispatched, he said. Nearly half of the firefighters on duty Saturday responded to the two-alarm fire, he said.
