Update: PG&E spokesman Denny Boyles says only three customers -- including The Bee -- are still without power from the afternoon outage.
Repairs will be done by 7:30 p.m., Boyles said.
Boyles said a problem with an underground cable in the downtown area caused the outage.
About 1,040 Pacific Gas and Electric customers are without power in and around downtown Fresno, a customer service representative from the company said Friday afternoon.
The power went out at 2:37 p.m. and is expected to go back on at 5:15 p.m.
Crews are currently investigating the cause of the outage, the representative said.
Customers without power are being encouraged to call (800) 743-5002 for more information or to report an outage in their area.
