Fresno County firefighters, assisted by other agencies and a commercial water truck, brought under control a large residential fire on Cedar Avenue just north of Morton Avenue near Easton Tuesday afternoon. It erupted just after 1 p.m.
Cal Fire spokesman Ryan Michaels said first responders had to take a cautious approach because of explosions going off in a shed. They were thought to be either fireworks or ammunition.
Fighting the blaze was also hampered because there are no hydrants in the rural area, so water trucks had to be utilized. A truck from Bowen Engineering, a business located about a mile north on Cedar, helped by spraying water on the fire from an adjacent pasture.
Fresno firefighters, as well as Air National Guard resources, were called in.
Family members managed to escape injury and the amount of damage is being assessed.
