A 63-year-old Reedley man driving an all-terrain vehicle in a Tulare County orchard died when he hit a pickup truck, the California Highway Patrol said Monday.
Authorities identified him Monday afternoon as J. Carmen Rodriguez.
About 12:45 p.m. Saturday, Rodriguez was driving a four-wheel 2008 Honda ATV through an orchard east of Traver, the CHP said.
As he came out of the orchard, he made a right turn onto a private road and into the path of a 2009 Ford Ranger pickup. The ATV and the pickup collided.
Rodriguez was thrown off and suffered major injuries, the CHP said. He was taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the pickup was not injured.
The collision is under investigation, the CHP said.
