A young driver who died in a single-vehicle accident has been identified as Hazel Evilia Garcia, 19, of Lemoore.
Garcia was not wearing a seat belt, the California Highway Patrol said.
About 11:40 p.m. Saturday, Garcia was driving a 1995 Ford Explorer north on Highway 41 near Jersey Avenue when for unknown reasons the SUV drifted off the road, the CHP said.
The vehicle came back onto the road and overturned; Garcia was thrown from the SUV and died at the scene, the CHP said. She was driving alone.
The CHP issued a statement Monday that the accident "is another tragic reminder of the life and death decision" involved in buckling a seat belt.
The cause of death is under investigation, the Kings County Coroner's Office said.
