Update: A Clovis man is on life support in a Fresno hospital after a traffic collision early Monday in east-central Fresno believed to have been triggered by a medical problem, police said.

The unidentified 56-year-old was driving south on Temperance Avenue about 7:12 a.m. and drove through a stop sign at Shields Avenue at a slow speed, said Sgt. Bruce Owen.

His car drifted into Shields Avenue and hit an eastbound car stopped at the stop sign, Owen said.

"Due to the minor damage to the vehicles, investigators are looking at a possible medical event," Owen said.

(Note: Authorities at the scene Monday morning reported that the man had died.)
