A fire at a multi-family residence in Visalia on Saturday afternoon displaced three people and caused $45,000 in damages and personal loss, the fire department said.
Firefighters responded to a fire in the 4300 block of West Cypress Avenue around 4:11 p.m. When crews arrived, smoke was coming out of a 4,000-square-foot, two-story, multiple family building.
Four engines, two trucks and a command vehicle for a total of 19 fire personnel got the fire under control within 15 minutes, the department said.
The fire started in a kitchen from cooking food left unattended. Damage was limited to that unit.
The Red Cross is handling temporary living arrangements for the occupants.
