An elderly disabled man was saved from his burning bedroom night at a home in southwest Fresno, Battalion Chief Ron Stogdell said.
A man in his mid-30s who also lives in the home in the 2200 block of South Lotus Avenue told firefighters that he smelled smoke coming from the bedroom about, Stogdell said.
He carried the elderly man, whose exact age was unknown, out of the room, then used a wheelchair to get him out of the house.
Stogdell said the injured man was taken to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno with burns over 30% of his body.
He said the damage to the house is estimated to be $15,000. The cause of the fire was unknown.
