A vehicle accident involving a big rig south of Tulare resulted in the death of one man.
The accident occurred about 1:20 p.m. Friday on Avenue 184 east of Road 64.
A 23-year-old Tulare man, whose name has not been released, was driving a 2006 Ford Ranger truck headed east on Avenue 184 when he drifted across the yellow line and struck a 2012 Peterbilt three-axle big rig transporting grain, California Highway Patrol said. The Ford driver suffered major trauma and died on scene, the CHP said.
The big rig driver, 47-year-old Jerry Terrazas of Tulare, moved his truck as far to the right of the road as he could without running off it when he saw the Ford approaching, CHP said. However, the left front and side of the Ford still struck the rear dual wheels of the grain trailer, CHP said.
